Occupational Therapy focuses on maximizing a person’s functional independence with the activities of daily living.
With evidence-based interventions, Occupational Therapists strive to maximize a person’s meaningful participation and engagement in a wide range of activities in order to improve a person’s quality of life and life satisfaction.
The scope of practice of Occupational Therapy is wide ranging; from addressing fundamental self care tasks such as bathing and dressing, to facilitating independence in more complex activities such as cooking, the pursuit of leisure activities for life satisfaction, household management, medication management, and well beyond.
If a physical or cognitive challenge limits the way someone lives their life, it is within our scope of practice as Occupational Therapists to address it!

In Pennsylvania, direct Occupational Therapy to an individual for a specific medical condition requires a referral from a licensed physician, licensed certified registered nurse practitioner, or licensed physician assistant.
Indirect services such as consultations, caregiver training, and education do not require a referral.
The referral must clearly state: “Outpatient Occupational Therapy evaluation and treatment,” the specific and relevant diagnosis code(s) that require treatment, and the physician’s NPI number.
Onward OT can attempt to seek this referral on the client’s behalf after gathering specific information, or a client can contact the physician’s office and make the request.
Referrals and pertinent information from the medical chart can be sent to our confidential and HIPAA-secure fax line at (844) 464-1170.
Please contact Onward OT directly via the Contact tab, by phone at (610) 445-5524, or by email at info@onwardot.com.
